The 1950’s in New York

Fun Fact of the Day:

Hall of Fame center fielders Duke Snider, Willie Mays, and Mickey Mantle were all playing in New York during the 1950’s. Duke played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Willie played for the New York Giants, and Mickey Mantle played for the Yankees. Ebbets Field, Yankee Stadium, and the Polo Grounds were making riches every year in the 1950’s as each team was full of talent with the three CF’s, all in their prime, leading the charge. Duke, Willie, and Mickey were all class A guys off the field as well, collecting nicknames from fans and sportscasters. Willie Mays was the “say hey kid”, Mickey Mantle took the nickname of “The Mick”, and Duke Snider will always be remembered as the “Silver Fox”. Despite the 1950’s being heavily dominated by pitching, these three stars putt up a total of 856 homers. All in all the 1950’s in NY were quite spectacular.

  1. I really like blogging when it is for or about something I believe in. I also read news blogs often and discover that it makes me feel significantly more intelligent every time I read them. I also feel like I am a pretty great person who tries to treat other people with respect, no matter what their view is. You will find some real haters out there. Thanks once more. I learned several things about blogging. I will certainly put your website on my speed dial.
