Fun Fact of the Day:
Believe it or not, Cal Ripken Jr. is not the all-time leader in games played, even though he does have the longevity record for most consecutive games. Pete Rose, the all-time hit king, is also the leader in most games played with 3562. Over Rose’s 24-year career, he averaged to compete in 148 games/season, while also holding the record for career total plate appearances and at-bats. There have been numerous players to compete for over 20 years in the major leagues, but most of the time they fade away after about 16 years or so, and just hang on for multiple years, due to their love of the game. Rose was the exception though, as he was arguably the most consistent hitter of all-time; for example at 40-years-old, he hit .325 and led the league in hits for the 1981 season. To play in over 3000 games for a career, is a sign of a true baseball veteran.
