Legend: In honor of Carlton Fisk‘s 67th b-day on December 26th, 2014, he is the legend of the week. The Hall of Fame catcher is famously known for his lead-off walk off homer in the bottom of the 12th inning in game 6 of the 1975 WS, that took the Red Sox to the seventh game against the Reds. Carlton Fisk had the gift of longevity, as he played 24 years in the big leagues with 2 different teams, the Red Sox and White Sox. Padres New Look Offense

The Winter of 2014 has been an extremely busy time for the Padres so far, as their new GM, A.J. Preller, has been wheeling and dealing like crazy. Over the years, the Padres have always had good pitching, heavily because of manager Bud Black, but offense has been limited, as San Diego has not seen their team in the playoffs for the past 8 years because they cant score runs. Vada Pinson’s Case for the Hall of Fame

There have been so many great center fielders throughout baseball history, but only 18 of them have made it to Cooperstown. There are a select group of center fielders looking into the Hall from the outside though, and Vada Pinson is one of them. During his 18-year career he played for the Reds/Redlegs, Cardinals, Indians, California Angels, and the Royals. For his first 10 years of his career, Vada was one of the best outfielders in the game. Steve Garvey’s Absence in the Hall; Why?

Steve Garvey is a legendary 1B who played for the LA Dodgers from 1969-1982, then the San Diego Padres between 1983-1987 to finish his 19-year career. During his career he put up marvelous numbers on his way to earning one MVP, 2 NLCS MVP’s, an all-star game MVP, 4 gold gloves, 6 silver sluggers, and a WS ring, while he appeared in 10 all-star games. Since retiring in 1987, Steve has already passed through his 15 years of eligibility for consideration to the Hall of Fame, and never got more than 41.6% of the vote, but never below 21.1% either.
