Alex Rios to Royals

Two league sources confirmed to ESPN.com that the Royals have inked RF Alex Rios to a one-year $11 million deal. The Royals have reportedly always liked Rios, as they tried to trade for him during the trade deadline back in July, but needed to clear Billy Butler’s salary first, so obviously they couldn’t get it done. Now with Butler’s departure to Oakland and the very likely possibility of Nori Aoki signing with a new team, KC now has the room to sign Rios, as he will be the right fielder in 2015. Surprise Team Lands McCarthy

There were several teams in on free agent starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy up and till the Winter Meetings when the Dodgers (who were rarely ever discussed as potential suitors for Brandon) signed McCarthy to a 4-year $48 million deal that was finalized on Wednesday the 10th.
