All-Stars from One Team

Fun Fact of the Day: As of right now the Royals have players leading in all-star votes at C, 1B, 3B, SS, LF, and RF. It may be due to their cinderella story in 2014, but despite most of them being deserving of the starting role at the Great American Ballpark in July this year, the voting seems to be pretty bias. There have been two times in history where a team has had at least 6 players named starters in the mid-summer classic. The first was in 1939 in which the Yankees had Red Rolfe (3B), Joe DiMaggio (OF), Continue reading All-Stars from One Team

Why the Yankees Are No Surprise This Year

Going into the 2014 season the Yankees were expected to win the AL East and potentially reach the Fall Classic due to signing Brian McCann, Jacoby Ellsbury, Carlos Beltran, and Masahiro Tanaka; but injuries left them hobbling to 84 wins. So, after a fairly quiet offseason, including Derek Jeter retiring, the expectations were not that high for them in the 2015 campaign, yet here they are in June sitting atop the AL East. Why? 534 Homers in 8136 At Bats

Fun Fact of the Day: On Tuesday June 2, 2015, Albert Pujols hit his 534th career home run, tying Jimmie Foxx for 17th on the all-time list. But, the strange thing is, that he did it in the same exact number of at bats as Double X did. Both were the best power hitters of their era, while in their prime, and are both down in history as some of the best sluggers the game has ever seen. They both had similar numbers during their prime, .315+ batting average, 30+ homers, 30+ doubles, and .500+ slugging percentage, but who would Continue reading 534 Homers in 8136 At Bats

The Mystery of the Rockies’ Lack of Success

Since the Colorado Rockies have come into the majors back in 1993, they have only had 6 winning seasons; making the playoffs a mere 3 times. Their last appearance postseason appearance was in 2009, which was the 2nd time they made it out of 3 years. The team they had from 2007-2010 produced a record of 339-310 with guys like Todd Helton, Matt Holliday, and Jeff Francis leading the charge, but even that team wasn’t good enough to win the franchise’s first championship. The last four seasons they have not won more than 74 games; what happened to that 2007 Continue reading The Mystery of the Rockies’ Lack of Success
