They have 3 of the best defensive shortstops in the MLB headlining the team in Didi Gregorius, Andrelton Simmons, and Xander Bogaerts. Jonathon Schoop and Jurickson Profar will take the back end of the double play at 2nd base. And, not to mention, arguably the best closer in the game in Kenley Jansen. Dodgers Have Their Set Up Man

On this day, the Dodgers signed Sergio Romo to a 1-year deal. Romo was the set-up man to Brian Wilson in 2010 when the Giants claimed their first championship of the three. He then was the set-up man to Santiago Casilla the next couple years. However, when the Giants made Romo the closer a few times over the past 3 seasons, his numbers declined. Why the Greg Holland Signing Amongst Other Things Makes the Rox Contenders

Pitching is what wins the national league every year; the biggest part being the bullpen. Clearly the Rockies have always had the offense to contend, but their pitching hasn’t exactly performed above par. In years past the reason has been both lack of talent and execution, but over the past few years they have stock piled on young pitchers. One of the biggest acquisitions was reliever Jake McGee. The Tragic Death of Yordano Ventura Goes Deeper

To start, my condolences go out to Ventura’s family and friends. The game just lost a truly talented flamethrower. Aside from the reality of losing a truly talented pitcher who sells tickets, Ventura’s passing could hurt the Royals indefinitely. After the descent from defending champs to playing at .500, KC then traded away their bonafide closer Wade Davis. Thought an injury riddled, .500 season, then losing their closer was enough?
