Story of the Week: Matt Kemp gets traded to the Padres for Yasmani Grandal. Also involved in the trade was Dodgers catcher Tim Federowicz and two prospects from the Padres. Marlins Add Latos to Roatation

On Thursday December 11, the Reds not only traded Simon to the Tigers, but they then also traded Matt Latos to the Miami Marlins. The Fish sent right-handed starter Anthony DeSclafani and minor-league catcher Chad Wallach to Cincy. Tigers Deal for Porcello Replacement

On the same day that the Tigers lost their starter, Rick Porcello, they quickly replace him as they trade away Eugenio Suarez and minor-league pitcher Jonathon Crawford for Alfredo Simon of the Cincinnati Reds. Simon is projected as the #5 starter for the Tigers, as of right now. As for the Reds, Suarez will serve as a back-up infielder and Jonathon Crawford will have to work for his spot on the 40-man roster. White Sox Swoop In and Get Melky

According to a Major League source telling MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez early Sunday morning, Melky Cabrera has agreed to a 3-year deal with the White Sox worth between $42-43.5 million; which is pending a physical. Its not exactly as official as other deals this offseason though, since Melky has a history with performance enhancing drugs. Surely though he will pass the physical due to being clean for 2 ½ years now after getting caught using steroids as a San Francisco Giant in 2012.
