Since the Colorado Rockies have come into the majors back in 1993, they have only had 6 winning seasons; making the playoffs a mere 3 times. Their last appearance postseason appearance was in 2009, which was the 2nd time they made it out of 3 years. The team they had from 2007-2010 produced a record of 339-310 with guys like Todd Helton, Matt Holliday, and Jeff Francis leading the charge, but even that team wasn’t good enough to win the franchise’s first championship. On June 20, 1991, the Texas Rangers debuted the #7 prospect, at the time; to start behind the plate, but little did they know that Ivan Rodriguez would become one of the top 3 catchers of all-time. Pudge Rodriguez or I-Rod, as they called him, was a legend behind the mask. He might be known the best for his arm due to his record 88 pickoffs, but he was so good with the bat as well, that he even won an MVP on his way to blasting a career total of 311 home runs. Fun Fact of the Day: There have been a decent amount of great hitting pitchers through the years, even some with power, making a home run by a pitcher inevitable. Sure a few homers a year by a slugging pitcher is pretty spectacular, but who is on top? Fun Fact of the Day: In the month of May, Jason Kipnis became the first player in franchise history to have 50+ hits in the month of May. He reached base more than 50% of the time this past month hitting .429 with 16 walks, 15 doubles, and 4 homers. With him at the top of the Tribe’s lineup now, the team has been on a miniature hot streak.
